ageet adds HD voice support to mobile software, promises more

Ageet (www.ageet.com), a VoIP software developer based in Kyoto, Japan, has announced that its latest mobile softphone release will incorporate support for HD voice codecs — but not in today’s release.

The HD voice support for AGEphone Mobile, a Windows Mobile 6.5 client, is described as “pending” and the company indicates it has tested the SPEEX wideband codec on the Qualcomm Snapdragon platform “and equally powerful mobile devices.”  Other codecs — not specified, but most likely to include G.722 — will be added as well.

Discussion of HD voice comes as ageet releases AGEphone Mobile for Windows 6.5.  The company offers both retail versions of its software and OEM versions, plus SDKs based upon its microSIP-stack.
