The Cable Show 2010 – Comcast CTO drops the “HD voice” phrase

Los Angeles – At a roundtable cable CTOs, Comcast’s representative dropped a phase this publication is always looking for – “as we move to HD voice…”

Comcast EVP and CTO Tony Werner mentioned HD voice as he addressed a question as to when and how soon the cable industry might move to directly exchanging voice calls to bypass the PSTN, citing one of the reasons to move to direct interconnections as a way to ensure better end-to-end quality of service and something the industry would want to do.

Unfortunately, Mr. Werner was unable to answer an HD Voice News follow-up question and we were unable to run him down to get clarification as to where Comcast might be in its HD voice thinking.
