Over in Taiwan for COMPUTEX, D2 Technologies (www.d2tech.com) has announced its vPort Gateway embedded VoIP software now supports the Sequans Communications WiMAX chipset.
Sequans is the world’s leading WiMAX chipmaker, says the press release. The D2/Sequans combo is running on a CPE reference design based on the Ralink RT3052 SoC.
Perhaps the most interesting bit in the release is that the joint solution is said to deliver “dramatically reduced power consumption” over previous generation tech for the three global WiMAX bands of 2.3, 2.5, and 3.5 GHz – a good thing for the green movement and mobile devices.
Also of interest: Sequans states its SQN1210 silicon features patented dual transmit uplink technology with closed loop diversity that dramatically improves coverage and offers throughput of greater than 40 Mbps.
