Looking forward on the HD voice / IP communications event calendar in 2H 2010 and beyond

HD Voice News expects to attend a number of HD voice and IP communication events in the second half of this year.  We would appreciate input and commentary from our readership (i.e. YOU) as to which events you consider the most significant and to note any events which are not on the calendar.

Some events listed below are by no means confirmed, but are presented as placeholders for planning calendars.

DEFCON 18, July 29-August 1, 2010, Las Vegas
(http://www.defcon.org/html/defcon-18/dc-18-index.html)

Perhaps the original un-conference, DEFCON is the original “hacker” conference with plenty of security material.

HD Voice News Editor-in-Chief Doug Mohney will present “HD Voice – The Overdue Revolution” at the conference. Date and time have not been set.

Metaswitch Forum, September 21-24, 2010, Orlando, FL(http://www.metaswitch.com/forum2010/)

Relocated from a flooded Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, Metaswitch Forum will take place at the Rosen Shingle Creek (http://www.rosenshinglecreek.com/)

IT EXPO West, October 4-6, 2010, Los Angeles, CA
(http://www.tmcnet.com/voip/conference/west-10/)

A “Meet the HD Voice Handset Vendors” session will take place with up to 8 (eight) handset manufacturers participating in a supersized (90 minute) roundtable discussion about HD voice, handset implementation, and moving from VoIP to HD.  Date and time have not yet been set.

AstriCon 2010, October 26-28, 2010, National Harbor, MD (i.e. Washington DC)

The original and official Asterisk User Conference And Expo has tons of developer and resellers in attendance and always features at least one Big Announcement from Digium.

CES 2011, January 6-9, 2011, Las Vegas
(www.cesweb.org)

CES has announced a new Telecom Pavilion this year at the show “for manufacturers of advanced broadband equipment and related products and services.“   A proposal for another HD Voice Summit on January 5, 2011 has been sent into CES, but we have not yet heard back from show planners.
