Metrico Wireless rolls out POLQA for mobile HD voice testing

Metrico Wireless ( has announced it is upgrading its Nomad call performance and voice quality evaluation product to support POLQA (Perceptual Objective Listening Quality Analysis), the new ITU-T voice quality testing standard selected back in July  (And covered here…).

The implementation is expected in the last quarter of 2010; existing customers will be able to “easily upgrade.” Adding POLQA will, says Metrico, allow Nomad to deliver the “most cutting-edge evaluation of voice quality in HD Voice, 3G and 4G/LTE devices.”

POLQA was specifically designed to support the evaluation of HD and so-called “superwideband” voice quality and can be used to assess several key metrics that PESQ could not, such as noise reduction, voice quality enhancement, time warping, and filtering and spectral shaping.

Metrico says once POLQA is incorporated into Nomad, customers can use it to ore accurately evaluate both narrowband and wideband voice applications, as well as enable mobile operators and manufacturers to collect and assess many new call quality metrics.
