D2 acquires Android set top box shop Webia

D2 Technologies (www.d2tech.com) has done an all-stock deal to acquire Taipei, Taiwan-based Webia Technologies.

Webia was one of the first software vendors to roll out Google Android set top box media players and first rolled out the first Android TV solution in 2010.  The acquisition gives D2 more depth in embedded multimedia communication apps, so expect D2’s mCUE to gain more traction in the connected TV and set top box spaces.

For financial junkies, D2 is privately held and has no VC funding.
