T-Mobile has launched HD voice service in Austria. This is the second official launch for T-Mobile and the second launch of mobile HD voice service in Austria.
The release, available here, notes T-Mobile has “upgraded” its entire 3G network to HD voice and the company invests over 100 million Euros per year into its network.
A list of supported phones includes the, Sony Ericsson Xperia and the Arc PLAY, HTC sensation, and the Samsung S Galaxy S2 after a software update.
T-Mobile also says that users should still notice an improvement in voice, even if one of the parties is in narrowband, due to the “stringent requirements for noise suppression and the general high acoustic requirements for these devices.”
Earlier this month, T-Mobile Poland launched mobile HD voice service. Other T-Mobile subsidiaries should be announcing HD voice in the months to come; T-Mobile Netherlands is already capable of running HD voice in some of its service area already. Further, T-Mobile is expected to support HD voice by default as it harmonizes/shares RF networks with France Telecom as a part of a larger interoperability/cost savings measure.
T-Mobile is not the first carrier to introduce HD voice service to Austria. Back in February, Telekom Austria had announced it would be launching HD voice service in Vienna in July, with the rest of the country to follow in September 2011.
