It’s been more than a year since Orange announced HD voice trials in Switzerland, but the company has officially launched service in the western part of the country, according to a report by TelecomPaper. Service to the rest of the country’s 3G network is expected by the end of October.
Orange Switzerland has been prepping for this launch for a long time, starting marketing efforts back at the beginning of the year. The TelecomPaper report also lists a collaboration with radio station Rouge FM and SLG Broadcast to provide live, high-quality connections for radio station broadcasts; the offering is unique because of the Scoopy+ HD technology to provide an unfiltered/unadjusted media streams, rather than filtering out background noise as would happen in a “regular” HD voice call.
Orange is also putting HD voice stickers on compatible phones. Compatible handsets listed include the Nokia E6-00, Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, HTC Desire HD, and the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830.
