Just in time for Mobile World Congress, OPTICOM has rolled out app-based management to include quality of experience (QoE) on smartphones for over the top (OTT) testing. HD voice is featured.
The Q-Apps software-based testing apps can either be installed on what it calls “COTS” smartphones, embedded in applications, or both; it can also be made hidden or visible to the end user.
Standards included for voice quality testing include POLQA (P.863) for 3G and 4G/LTE networks, including full HD Voice listening quality analysis, and Standard PESQ (P.862). Further analysis includes ECHO measurement and talking quality analysis, with video quality testing to be rolled out at a later date.
