Does the cable industry do anything fast? Comcast officially launched/announced Business VoiceEdge this week, a cloud-based (i.e., hosted) voice and unified communications solution. It’s a service they were demonstrating in plain sight back at The Cable Show 2011. The service includes HD voice, a “common user experience,” and a full suite of UC features, according to the press release.
Business Voice Edge is now available across most of Comcast’s Northeastern Division, which includes 14 states from Maine through Virginia and the District of Columbia, as well as Chicago. Nationwide rollout across Comcast’s entire service is targeted by the end of 2012.
The solution includes unlimited nationwide calling; Polycom phones at “no additional charge”; Be Anywhere one-number calling with Find Me/Follow Me/push-pull; voicemail to email; business voice continuity number fallover; and on-net calling between sites with extensions and shared call handling.
