Media uptick on HD voice continues

Stories on Forbes and CIO illustrate how HD voice is (finally) starting to make inroades with U.S. media outlets.

A Forbes blog posting suggests the HD voice feature of VoLTE will bring back carrier customers from over-the-top (OTT) services by providing higher quality. It also cites Metaswitch’s view of the world that carriers need to be more aggressive in combating the evils of OTT by rolling in smarter services.

CIO cribs a piece from Network World, “A look  at the Hottest 2012 Spring Smartphones.”  The piece highlights Sprint’s HTC Evo 4G LTE smartphone and its HD voice functionality (but doesn’t mention Sprint has staked out its position as the first 3G CDMA HD voice carrier with a late 2012 service introduction).
