MegaFon puts HD voice in Siberia with voice processing

Russia mobile carrier MegaFon has turned up HD voice in Siberia if we understand the translated press release.  There’s also a new voice processing system in the core network to clean up noise and other artifacts.

MegaFon launched HD voice in Siberia in May 2012 through its network in Novosibirsk on its 3G HSPA+ network.  There is no additional charge for HD voice service – the standard by now.

Testing took place in March 2012, using Nokia 603 and Nokia 700 smart phones. MegaFon is promoting the Nokia 500 phone for HD voice in its press release, but also points out “practically all Nokia smartphones” with Symbian “or higher” and many models of Samsung and other manufacturers support AMR-WB codecs.
