T-Mobile USA shops for VoLTE engineer

Found among T-Mobile USA’s employment lists is a “Sr Engineer, SystDesign & Strategy (VoLTE) in Bellevue Washington United States.” This should be no big surprise, since T-Mobile USA said it was going to take the spectrum and deal break fees from AT&T and roll them into network upgrades.

The job listing, currently here,  says T-Mobile is looking for a senior engineer to focus attention on design and implementation of VoLTE and s/he will lead a cross functional team through design, development, implementation and ongoing engineering of core network elements associated with this service.

Responsibilities include writing RFPs/RFI/RFQs, conducting lab trials against 3GPP or OMA specs, and driving core network architecture changes and evolution.

Qualifications include “Excellent knowledge in IMS/ICS, SR-VCC, VoLTE, Telecommunications, GSM technologies architectures and relevant protocols,” “Knowledge of TCP IP Protocols,” “Ability to understand and reference 3GPP and OMA specification,” with “Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems with Telecom emphasis and two years relevant experience preferred”  and “Seven+ years of Wireless Telecommunications Engineering/Design Experience.”
