KPN wholesale has lined up nine Dutch-based carriers for its IP interconnection service. The report in Telecompaper indicates five service providers have or will connect by the end of the year and another four networks will be connected at the beginning of next year.
Participating providers include CaiWay (CAIW), Dean Connect (DEAN), Edutel (FTYS), iBasis (international destinations), KPN Mobiel (GSM1), KPN (MMN1), KPN (BBXL), RoutIT (VOIP), Scarlet Telecom (SCAR), and Vodafone (LTEL).
IPX interconnection is picking up as service providers want to enable networks for IP and data-driven services such as HD voice, RCS, and LTE roaming. KPN’s announcement is likely to be a bridge to more interconnected across Europe.
