One of the most interesting/subtle marketing moves Digium did on its phones is to put the phrase “HD voice” on the handset. There aren’t a lot of people who do that right now. As I’m flipping through pictures and leftovers from IT EXPO East 2012, I see Denwa has its phone handset stamped [...] Miami, FL – Panasonic (www.panasonic.com/sip) has rolled out a $499 7 inch color touch screen Android-based desk phone. But they say they can’t call it Android due to legal headaches with Google. The KX-UT670 is certified as compatible with a bunch of different SIP-based platforms, including Asterisk, BroadSoft, and Metaswitch. The company describes the 9204G as having a “smaller, PBX-type” footprint and is the first Gigabit-based phone. Features include an “enhanced” full-duplex speakerphone, wideband audio support through G.722, a 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet switch, and [...] Grandstream Networks (www.grandstream.com) has announced an enterprise SIP phone with HD audio for a list price under $100. The two line GXP1440 is described as an “entry-level” enterprise desktop SIP phone for $99. It includes HD voice (G.722) audio, plus LCD XML customization, automated provisioning, integrated “personal Web productivity applications,” and advanced security [...] Orlando, FL – Polycom (www.polycom.com) has rolled out the SoundStation IP 5000 Conference Phone, a device with a tweaked look and a MSRP of $599. Needless to say, the IP 5000 features Polycom HD Voice (i.e. G.722) and is designed for private offices and small meeting rooms.
