A senior AT&T executive has confirmed the company plans on rolling out Voice over LTE (VoLTE) later this year.

AT&T Senior Vice President of Network Technologies Kris Rinne told attendees at VentureBeat’s Mobile Summit that the company would be delivering HD voice later this year, repeating what the carrier had said previously.

GSA LTE update: 105 commercial networks launched, 351 operators investing in LTE

The Global mobile Suppliers Association’s (GSA) October 1, 2012 report says 351 operators are investing in LTE, with 105 operators having launched commercial LTE networks in 48 countries. Another 194 network deployments are in progress.

The outlook for Voice over LTE (VoLTE) in America is pretty dire, with sources saying it might be until late 2013 before Verizon lights up nationwide coverage. and 2014 for Sprint.  One person with insight into LTE said AT&T had an outside chance of beating Verizon.
