In a press release sent to Reuters and making the rounds in other distribution circles, Ericsson is defining its role in the mobile HD voice rollout in Australia, “the world’s largest HD voice network.” Telstra has turned up HD voice services covering over 2.1 million square kilometers, according to the release.

This morning (well, last night East Coast US time), Telstra announce the “largest HD Voice network in the world” – after all, Australia is a Big Country — as it rolled out mobile HD Voice services across its entire Next G cellular network.
Telstra will formally announcement mobile HD voice on June 24, predicts iTwire. It will be the first mobile operator in Australia to offer the service.
The incumbent operator Down Under has schedule a press conference to announce “a major development in our Telstra Next G mobile network.”
ARN (www.arnnet.com.au) reports Telstra is putting $600AU million into its network as a way of getting SMBs to use digital communications solutions. More importantly, Telstra is putting HD voice as a key role into its newly introduced Digital Business solution.

Telstra (www.telstra.com.au) has announced it is now selling the Polycom (www.polycom.com) VVX 1500 Business Media Phone and the 300 organizations now using Telstra’s hosted IP telephony product (TIPT) can upgun to videoconferencing by simply upgrading their phones. It also announced HD voice support between those 300 organizations – and potentially to Telstra proper.
